Wednesday Weight Check

It’s frustrating when you feel like you’ve done everything right and the scale doesn’t move. I know I need to focus on the things that I CAN control, like how many times I work out, how much I eat, etc. etc. but man is it annoying when you can’t make the scale do what you want it to! I know it’s a journey (hello blog title) but its tough when you don’t see the results you want and deserve. Ugh!

I know all that said, I do have a lot to be proud of from this past week, including:

    • Working out 6 (!!!!) times
    • Getting back into the kitchen
    • Feeling in control with food all week
    • Getting up before work 2x this week to run
    • Making good choices throughout the week

Here’s to a better week scale-wise next week.

Oh! And let me leave you with this sweaty (blurry) picture from this morning:

This is after clocking in 3.0 miles outside at an 8:55 (!!!) pace. Take that, scale!

Congrats on maintaining. I like the goal of getting back into the kitchen. I need to do that as well. Enjoy your weekend.

First of all, LOVE those earrings you are wearing. Super duper cute.

Sorry the scale is being a giant ahole right now. There is nothing more frustrating than when the scale doesn’t reflect our hard work. Butttt you said you worked out more than usual, so I bet your body just needs a week or so to adjust to that ya know?! I really like that you also reflect on the things that you did awesome with, so good job Beth!!

Have an awesome trip! I bet next week’s weigh in will be great- just keep doin’ what you’re doin’!

Thanks for the compliment! I got them in St. Maarten for $5! Booyah.

And thanks also for the encouragement. I know I just need to keep trucking, and the scale will do what it wants, when it wants.

I just found your website and I love the video blog. Hearing you say what you’re proud of helped me re-frame my own journey. Some times the scale doesn’t match our efforts but they aren’t for nothing. They might just show up some place else like a faster run time or better fitting clothes. I’ve found the scale moves when “it” wants to not necessarily when “I” want it to. The downward trend is what matters! Have a week of good choices!

Glad I could help! It is so easy to get caught up in the scale and be negative, but it’s SO important to focus on being positive and the good things you’ve done. Even though the scale won’t move according to our own timelines/wishes, it will move eventually!

You look fabulous. I’m sure the scale will catch up with all of the positive changes next week. Thanks for keeping it real! Sometimes we do everything right and we “just” maintain.

Aww thanks Rachel! I always try to “keep it real” though it’s better for everyone I wait a day to make these videos because yesterday I was so pissed haha. I’m still not thrilled but i know the hard work will show up eventually!

Lovin’ the Wednesday Weigh-In blogs (very inspirational) … We are currently renovating our kitchen and dining area so the cooking has been cut to a minimum due to no counters and no dining table .. lol .. but I always find your recipes so enticing and have already tried a few. I want to try the mexican egg muffins and the lentil stew — I have NEVER tried lentils before, but it sounds so good !!

It’s definitely tough when you work super hard and don’t see results on the scale. The most important is to keep going anyway. Too many times I’ve let it discourage me, not kept on trying, and regretted when I ended up 20 pounds heavier! I love your attitude in focusing on the things you did well. Keep it up.

Sometimes when you increase exercise your muscles will retain more water so they can heal/repair. The scale will move in time, just keep up what you’re doing!

You’re still doing great! I joined WW after reading your blog and am now a lifetime member and getting ready to fill out the new hire paperwork (thank you!). I’m concerned though because I’m about 10 lbs under goal. Will they make me resent my goal to be within two pounds of where I’m at?

Hey Renee – Congrats on becoming lifetime and a WW employee!! And nope – they won’t make you reset your goal as long as you are at a healthy weight (ie. within your range for your height). It’s OK if you are below your goal, just as long as you’re in that range, and not more than 2 lbs OVER goal. Sounds like you and i are having opposite problems! 🙂

I too have had trouble with the scale…… so I TOSSED it in the GARBAGE !!!! I feel so much lighter already. Not stressing about it is the answer. Do it you’ll feel so much better!

Maintaing is a good thing! I just got back from a week long vacation in the mountains and tried my best (without spoiling vacation) to be mindful of what I was eating and drinking and how much physical activity I was getting. Luckily, we did quite a bit of hiking and would eat small meals throughout the day. No weight gain on this trip which I was proud of. I am sure you will do fine and enjoy some time with your family!

Love your attitude and focusing on the positives. Beating yourself up and thinking about what you did “wrong” won’t help anything at all- but loving yourself and celebrating the good brings positive energy!
Yes, it sucks that you didn’t lose weight- but you WILL. You know this. You know when you’re doing things “right” and your body will catch up!
Love your honesty, as always. 🙂
