First Time Here?
Welcome to Beth’s Journey!
A little bit about me… my name is Beth (if you couldn’t guess from the title of my blog) and I am a 27 year old foodie working and living in Washington, DC. I originally grew up in Connecticut, but came to DC for undergrad and never left. Somehow that means its been over 9 years since I moved here… crazy!
I have struggled with my weight for my ENTIRE life and had been overweight for as long as I could remember. I decided to change this once and for all in March 2009 when I joined Weight Watchers and it completed transformed me, both inside and out. I have now lost a total of 88 pounds since my peak weight of 250 pounds 6 years ago, finally hitting my goal weight of 164 pounds in May 2011.
I started Beth’s Journey in February 2010, after I’d already lost most of the weight, as a way to document the last leg of my weight loss journey and to share my story with others. Healthy living and cooking became serious passions of mine once I decided to change my life, and I wanted a creative outlet to openly discuss my struggles and showcase my recipes, so that’s how Beth’s Journey came to be. Please feel free to email me (bethsjourneyblog at gmail dot com), like my facebook page, follow me on twitter and come back and check out my blog! I update it every Monday through Friday with different recipes, weight loss tips, exercise tips, and general ramblings about my life.

I just found your blog, and I’m so excited to take a look around! Congratulations on your amazing weight loss and your journey towards a healthier you. I also lost weight with Weight Watchers–a little over 55 pounds–and I’ve been maintaining my loss for about 2.5 years now. I can’t wait to look through your recipes and read your whole story. Thanks for sharing your life!
Beth- Bravo!!

I am a cert. Wellcoach and this is what I do- the secret is all hidden within- your patterns, beliefs, habits and values around health.
I would be happy to share more, if you like. I know I could help your followers on their journey to a better and healthier LIFE!

Hi Celeste,
Fine job for getting close to your best weight!!
The thing is- do you feel you are a “natural” at your own self-care and health?
Do you have a plan that works and will go the distance…a lifetime?
I am 48 and feel the best ever~and have seen what micro decisions can do over time.
I didn’t get fit until after 40-
What can I do to support your journey? And everyone here?
Heather

Beth,
Love your blog! I found it on a google search. Would you mind to contact me? I would like to ask you some questions. Thanks!
Hi Christin! Email me at bethsjourneyblog@gmail.com if you have some questions. Happy Friday!!
How do you get started with the Simply Filling Food Program. What do you read? How do you record daily? What is the difference with a power food and a power food with triangle? Are foods that are not a Power Food deducted from you default 49 points and additionally your daily activity points earned. Can you point me in the right direction. On the Points Plus Program for 5 weeks. MaryAnn001004@aol.com
Beth,
Thank you for sharing your story.
I have used your recipes and love them. I, especially, like the presentation. Preparation is a lot more fun seeing the pictures along with the very clear instructions.
I have tried to find your Chicken Curry recipe and am unable. Would you please share it with me.
Thank you and have a fabulous day.
Carol
Hi Beth,
I stumbled upon your blog yesterday and I’ve spent the better part of my weekend reading your posts! I absolutely love your story, your outlook, your writing style, and your personality. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation! I have one question- how tall are you? I have read so much about your weight, I’m curious of your height!
Thanks again,
Kristina
Hi Christina – That was just about the longest string of compliments I’ve ever received. THANK YOU!!!!!
I am 5’8 if I’m being generous, 5’7.5 if I’m being accurate. 164 is the highest healthy weight according to WW for someone who is 5’8, so that is what I set to my goal weight. I am currently struggling to get back there – and it’s tough!
Thanks for reading,
Beth
Hi Beth,
I recently decided that I needed to get my weight under control and your blog gave me the motivation to join Weight Watchers (the online program) and begin a new, healthy, lifestyle for myself! I’m happy to say I’ve been on the program (and loving it) for over 3 weeks; I’m down 8 pounds and tons of inches (my start weight was 177 and my goal is 135). I finally feel like I can do this!
You rock!!!
Hi Sarah! Congrats on all your success so far with the program! WW really is great – and it works! Woohoo!!!
