Wardrobe Edit: Part Two

Last night was the final installment of my stylist experience from the Washingtonian. In case you missed it, there was:

Even though every part of this process has been pretty amazing, last night was really the night where we pulled it all together. I gave Kaarin fifteen minutes to go through everything without me, and when I came back in my room it looked like this:

Then it was off to work! She put together tons of different outfits out of things in my closet and took pictures of everything. My favorite part was picking an anchor piece and dressing it up several different ways. I got this red skirt from the swap that I LOVE, and she showed me three different ways to wear it. Though all are similar since the skirt is so bold and it really only goes with white or black, its fun to switch things up and get a different look just by changing up the accessories.

Look one:

Look two:

Look three:

My other favorite “anchor” piece is this black and white skirt, also from the swap, that I hadn’t figured out how to wear even ONCE. Check out how many different looks she came up with when I couldn’t even come up with one!

Not sure what happened with the color in that last one, but you get the point.

This post already feels extremely narcissistic so I’m going to go ahead and stop showing you pictures of me wearing different clothes, I just wanted to give you guys an idea of how awesome working with a stylist can be. I REALLY needed the help!

What is your favorite “anchor” piece of your wardrobe?

I love that she gave you so many different way to wear your existing clothes. I so need help in that area. I thought the pictures were great – not narcisisstic at all – helpful! I have a skirt similar to your black & white print one, and that gave me some great ideas. Do you know what garanimals are? I need those for adults! LOL

Thanks to google, I now know what Garanamials are. That is GENIUS! We really should urge them to make a line for adults.

That’s awesome and makes me want to spend all day playing in my closet!

I prefer when someone else plays in my closet! Ha. I know you’re really into fashion, i just don’t have an eye for it!

WOW…that is awesome you have come up with so many outfits out of what you have. I wish I had someone to dress me. I have no style what so ever because I’ve always dressed frumpy because of my weight. Well I’m trying to get out of that rut but its hard. I bought a dress last night on clearance and wore it to work today. In the 9 yrs I’ve worked here I have never worn a dress. Crazy! I don’t even know who I am anymore.

I’d love to see more photos of other outfits!

I had a lot of trouble getting dressed before I got the help of my stylist. She said that a lot of bigger women are so limited in our clothing options, that during those critical years when everyone is supposed to develop a style, we are so limited with our options and really never had a chance to. I never looked at it that way before, but it makes sense!

Not narcissistic! I love these posts! I so need someone to show me some cute new looks with the clothes I already have. I don’t have the money to go spend buying all new things!

=). After posting almost 10 pictures of myself I decided it was enough. The best part is, I only spent $250 to spruce up my wardrobe. Everything else is from my closet!

I really love the skirt!

I have a few shrugs that I really love to mix and match with as much as possible. It took a while for me to realize layering can be my friend…

Thanks! I love it too but have never worn either of them in public, yet!

Wow. those are some great outfits! I never would have thought of those ideas for the black/white skirt. I probably would have just threw on a black shirt and said I was good to go :) You look wonderful!

Love the black and white skirt! And isn’t it crazy how many different looks you can get from a few pieces? I don’t have the eye for things like that either. How fun to get the chance to work with a stylist!

WOW!! That is awesome. I wish I thought like that.

I’m actually going shopping today for a few new pieces as I start a new job on Wednesday. I’m hoping to find a few versatile pieces.

SO COOL Beth! I need to get back down to my lowest and goal so I can do a serious wardrobe edit! I organized my closets yesterday, which was good, but I would LOVE some serious help! Jeans would have to be my anchor…or at least my comfort zone! xo

Ah yes, jeans are definitely a good anchor. That or a black skirt would be mine before Kaarin, but I loved how she showed me that pieces other than that could be anchors, too!

I love the black and white skirt! I have one similar and I always feel like I have to pair it with either black or white tops, but it looks so good with purple! I need to be more adventurous with my fashion. :)

ME too. Even though I put all those things on, the next step is to actually wear them in public!

This stylist was amazing. LOVE the different looks with the same skirt! My anchor pieces are all black, I need to get more color in my wardrobe! Have a great day Beth!

Everything I owned before Kaarin came into my life was black! I still love the black pieces but its definitely nice to add some color.

I need a Kaarin in my life! I’m the worst and pulling outfits together. I’ll usually by an entire outfit that I see on a mannequin. ;)

Lookin’ good, Beth! I’m glad that this has been such a great experience for you! :)

I am SO bad at it too. I love that I have pics of all the outfits we put together so I can reference back when I can’t figure out what to wear!

I love the idea when I get closer to goal of having a stylist come and help me put outfits together with clothes I have in boxes (that used to fit) along with ideas on what to buy. I live in NY not DC is there a way to find people that will come to your house and do this (where it’s their business or side job)?

My favorite anchor piece is a pair of white pants. They look fantastic with bright colors.
