Three Things for Thursday

I have some random (good) things to share today. Here we go!

1.) I did my first run post half-marathon last night.

Granted, it was just 2 miles, but it felt good to get a run in so soon after the half! My general MO is that I take a really long time to get back into the groove after I run a race that I’ve been training for, so I am really proud that I took just one day off and have worked out the last three days in a row! Monday I did 40 minutes of intervals on the elliptical and 10 minutes on the stairmill, Tuesday I did a 45 minute (3.3 mile) power walk, and last night I did a 1 hour Body Pump class followed by the 2 mile run. It feels good! I’m keeping track of my workouts on this spreadsheet, and on that note…

2.) I signed up for another half marathon yesterday!

I know I was literally JUST talking about being excited to be done with training (and I am), but I realized that with the two 10 mile races I have coming up, I have to keep my mileage up anyways, and running a half marathon on Memorial Day weekend will fit in perfectly with the Broad Street run. Since I’ll be running 10 that weekend, I’ll do 11 and 12 the following two weekends, and then it’ll be Memorial Day weekend.

oddyssey

So, on Saturday, May 26th, I’ll be running my fourth half marathon in Philadelphia, which is special because it’s where I ran my very first. And the best part is that my sister Wendy is running it with me!! She’s going to be running Broad Street with me as well, but I’m still not exactly sure how I convinced her to sign up for the half, but what’s done is done. 😉

3.) I won a raffle at the Rock ‘n Roll Expo for a $250 gift certificate to Lululemon!

This past Thursday when I was at the expo picking up my race packet, I barely paid any attention to the booths because I just zipped over there quickly during my lunch break. But then I saw Dawn Jackson, who was the keynote speaker at the Healthy Living Summit last August, so I decided to stop by to say hi. She was there on behalf of Florida Grapefruit, so we chatted for a bit about HLS and then she told me to enter the raffle. I never win anything, so I filled out the form and never gave it a second thought. Then yesterday, I got an email from the Florida Grapefruit people telling me I was picked as the winner of the raffle! I am SO excited because I never buy myself anything from Lululemon (besides headbands) because it’s too expensive, so this will be such a treat!

Have you ever won anything? What’s the best thing you’ve ever won?

You are rockin’ all kinds of awesome this week! Wow a $250 gift card, that’s cool! You’ll have to show us what you ended up getting!

Hmm, I’m trying to think of something I’ve won. The last thing I won was some banners for Vday from the Lettered Cottage, that was pretty cool. But I wouldn’t mind if a mixer or cookbook fell into my lap on several giveaways I entered this week! LOL

Congrats on registering for another race- I need to look into a few races this spring/ summer… Any recommendations?

I think we all are a little jealous of your expo win, especially since it’s to Lulu 😛

When my hubby and I were first married, we were looking at houses, townhouses, etc… trying to figure out where in the heck we were going to LIVE and make a life together 🙂 We toured this one townhouse place and they had a drawing for all the people that came in and looked at their model homes that month. And we won!!! We won a fabulous bed & breakfast weekend in the mountains in Vail, Colorado at The Minturn Inn. It was such a beautiful place and waaaaaaay more expensive than we would ever pay/buy on our own, so what a fun thing to win!! I remember that luxurious room right on the Eagle river like it was yesterday 🙂

I actually won a pair of 1 carat diamond earrings from our favorite jeweler (where we purchased my engagement/wedding ring from.). I was SHOCKED when we picked them up and the insurance value was $4500!!!

Ha! I just read your last post before this and was like “she signed up for another??” But what you said totally makes sense. You’ll already be in the training mode, so why not?
I won a case of Boulder Canyon Potato chips from a Facebook contest. I know that might not sound impressive, but if you’ve ever had them- you would be jealous. The Rosemary Balsamic flavor is the best chip I’ve ever had (and I’m not much of a chip person!). It’s hard to find them around here much, they’re everywhere in Colorado.
Congrats on the Lulu win though- I don’t own a thing from there because I can’t afford it!

Ha ha… so alike we are! I’ve already got my next half planned (to be fair, my cousin picked it and asked if i’d join her in fundraising efforts- how could I turn it down?).

I love the crops…they are great!

Good for you for signing up for another half! I did the same thing after my first half. I kind of feel like my mileage is already up there and I don’t want to lose it! 🙂

I’ve never won anything. I hardly ever put in for raffles though, so that could be why!

It seems like there are a lot more races back East than there are here. Of course, Memorial Day is kinda late in the year for races here, because its so hot already.

Yay for sister runs and winning lulu gear…that’s awesome! The best thing I ever won was at a Pampered chef conference (I used to sell it). I won a shopping spree where I had 30 seconds to grab anything and everything I could in their warehouse…it was AWESOME!!!!

Congrats, what an awesome prize to win!

One of the most fun things I’ve ever won was tickets to the American Idol concert in 2005. It was on a tv call in show, and I was so excited I knew their trivia answer!

Ohhhhh, I’m SO jealous that you’re doing Broad Street AND the ODDyssey! I actually registered for both races (and will be totally running Broad Street), but when I went to put the ODDyssey into my calendar (which I did AFTER registering and yes, paying), I realized that it’s the same weekend I’ll be away in Ohio with my high school orchestra. I’m annoyed over losing the money, but I’m more upset because it was supposed to be my first half marathon ever and I was going to run it with an awesome friend, who is also training for a half marathon for the first time. So, now the Philly Rock N Roll Half in September will be my first half.

I hope you have an amazing time at both races! I’m really excited for Broad Street – it’s my first time running it, since I just started running last June.

My ultimate recommendation for your Lulu spree is the “Run Swiftly tech short sleeve”. I don’t really care what kind of pants I wear, but these shirts are great.
