Snapped Out

First, two quick announcements before we get down to business:

1.) I am officially going to training to be a Weight Watchers Leader!!!!!! I am so excited and found out it was probably going to happen over the last few weeks, but now I am signed up for the Basic Leader Training in October so it’s official! I will keep you guys posted throughout the process, but just wanted to share since I’m really excited about it.

2.) The Hunger Games is SOOOOOOO good. I’m talking pray for a red light while driving so you can read a few more lines good. I haven’t read a book I couldn’t put down in a while, and this is it.

Now that that’s out of the way, I’m happy to report I made a lot of progress on yesterday’s mini goals! To start, I made it through the work day and to the Weight Watchers meeting and stayed awake and productive most of the time. Winking smile

I ended up getting home just before 8, and didn’t even go up to my apartment before getting in the car and heading directly to the grocery store. I managed to do really well at Harris Teeter, only spending $21.53! Here’s what I got:

  • Spinach
  • Chobani 0% Plain Greek Yogurt
  • Smoked Salmon
  • Bananas
  • Garlic Powder
  • Broccoli
  • Cilantro
  • Onion
  • Sweet Potato
  • Garlic
  • Peaches x4
  • Strawberries (on sale for $2)

Not too bad right? Here’s the menu for the week:

Mmm just looking at that list makes me excited for dinners this week. And dinner with my friend Erika! I can’t even remember the last time I was out to dinner. I can’t wait!

Besides the grocery trip, I also managed to drink a lot of water yesterday to clean out my system.  I also woke up this morning and ran 5 miles in 49 mins exactly (9:48 pace), so checked EVERYTHING off on my list!

I feel so much better already.

How often do you go out to dinner and where was the last place you went?

Yay!!! So glad that you took care of everything yesterday–that is a good feeling, isn’t it? Great pace on that run this morning–that’s amazing!

We usually go out once per week, usually on Friday nights as a date night type thing. The last place we went was Ruby Tuesday on Monday to say goodbye to my sister — that is one of our “usual” places.

I’m so glad you like The Hunger Games!!! I stayed up so late reading those books each night. It was hard to put them down!

YES! So glad you are reading the Hunger Games. SUCH a great series. I finished Mockingjay yesterday… and am kind of going through withdrawals!

First off CONGRATULATIONS! on the Weight Watcher leader training. That is seriously awesome.

Second off. I wish I had read about your black bean recipe this weekend when I was looking for one! Geesh, I ended up just using canned. I will be book marking this for future use. Thank you!

I’m praying the weather stays cooler after all the storms we had last night so I can get a solid 5-miler in tonight. I need some running in my life this week!

I don’t go out to dinner often… last time was probably when my friends were in town a couple of weeks ago. We went for deep dish (because that’s what all the out-of-towners want to do). I don’t count Mon and my stop for Mexican food the other day… it was alcohol induced. :p

Yes! They are finalizing the cast right now I believe. I have no idea on the production timeline or anything. But they are so addicting!

WOO HOO Leader Lady! That’s uber exciting!

I think we eat out two-ish times a week. The last place I went out was Ted’s Bulletin on the Hill. I LOVE BREAKFAST out. And Ted’s is AMAZING.

Congrats – you will make an awesome leader. If I were only in DC to attend your meetings!

I loved the Hunger Games trilogy. I finished Mockingjay this past weekend and was sad it was over. The 2nd book was my favorite. They were so hard to put down that I had a few late nights reading.

I eat out way too much. Went to a fantastic burger place last night with a friend from work. Upscale burgers (I had a portabello mushroom filled with Israeli cous cous, kalamata olives, feta cheese and a basil ailoi). YUM

We go out 2-3 nights a week and I’m happy with that. I love the act of eating out – the entire experience of it – so I don’t see much harm if we can afford it and if I’m making decent choices in what I’m eating.

Lately, I’ve been going out for a “true foodie” meal 1-2 times per month. The food is more on the expensive side, smaller portions, made by excellent chefs with local food. They have been the best meals I’ve ever tasted and are truly worth the money spent. I think it’s totally OK to eat things like pork belly, creamy soups, panna cotta, etc. as long as they are small portions. When the food is high quality, you only need a small portion, and good chefs know that.

    Congrats on the Leader position!
Girl, you need a GARDEN! Talk about getting excited about going outside and harvesting some of your food and paying no money (well, besides for seeds and water). You’d love it.

Yay! That is truly awesome about you becoming a leader…although I can’t say I am surprised since I’ve seen how much you inspire people with your blog…it was only a matter of time before the WW peeps recognized that they needed to have you front and center! Good luck with the new role…I’m sure you’ll rock it!

We rarely go out to eat. Too expensive and we like to eat my cookin! 😉 Last place we went was PF Changs….which I must say was delicious. I had never been there before.

It looks like you are definitely back on your A-game.

I rarely eat out…but splurged on some sushi the other day. All that white rice though…seems like a mixed blessing.

We listened to The Hunger Games audiobook on our road trip and LOVED it! We found ourselves sitting in our cabin on vacation listening instead of out enjoying Tahoe! Ha.

Exciting you are going to be a leader! That is awesome. Good for you.

LOVED LOVED LOVED the Hunger Games! I was skeptical because I don’t like “teen fiction” and hated Twilight. But I gave it a chance and it sucked me in. I read the trilogy in like three weeks and was sad when it was over. I can’t wait for the movie!

We rarely go out for dinner because it is such a big money suck and we are trying hard to save money right now for a couple of upcoming trips!

I loved the hunger games. I read for like 10 hours straight when I started the first book. So so so good!

The Hunger Games books have been the keys to my long runs! I’m dreading what will happen when I’m done with the third (and I’m close now). I’ll need a new book recommendation!

Congrats on reaching your weight loss goal – that is awesome and you look great!

I love love love The Hunger Games! It’s my favorite series. Can’t wait for the movie to come out, but I’m a little bit afraid they might mess up the story. The movie releases in March 2012.

Congrats on your WW Leader training. You’ll be a wonderful Leader. 🙂

I’m DYING to read the Hunger Games! It’s next on my list. I’ve been out to dinner a lot this week but it doesn’t really count since I’m on vacation 🙂 Usually I prefer a home-cooked meal most nights so that a night out feels special.

LOVE The Hunger Games. Have you considered listening to the audiobook of the next ones? They are REALLY engaging. I’ve read the series once in book form and listened to it my second time around, and let me tell you, it’s just as good in audio form!!!

Also, another book to check out for you (or anyone else who loves the Hunger Games) is Battle Royale. It’s a similar concept and came before the Hunger Games.

I LOVED The Hunger Games!! It’s one of those books that you literally can’t put down, like you said.

The only time I eat out is when I absolutely HAVE to (like on a trip). When I started losing weight, I just found that the calories in restaurant food weren’t worth it to me, and I enjoy home-cooked food so much more! But going out with a friend would be nice–enjoy your dinner!

Also, a huge CONGRATS on training to become a WW leader! I’m sure you will make a great one.
