Loving Lately

After yesterday’s downer of a post, I thought it would be fun to do something a little bit more upbeat today and share some things I’ve been loving lately!

1.) The PointsPlus Cookbook

PointsPlusCookbook_11183_md Source

I bought this cookbook last week at my Weight Watchers meeting, and I can’t get over how great the recipes are! (You can also buy it on Amazon here if you are interested.) I wasn’t sure what the recipes would be like, but most of them are largely made with whole foods, are simple to follow, and sound delicious! A few of the ones I’m planning on making are:

    • Spicy Chickpea Lettuce Wraps
    • Grilled Shrimp Tostadas
    • Falafel Sandwiches with Lemon Yogurt
    • Pear and Fig Crostata with Gorgonzola
    • Frozen Banana Dulce De Leche Pie

The only ingredient that some of the recipes use that I’m a little wary of is fat-free half and half, but that is only in a few, and most of the recipes seem to use wholesome ingredients and the recipes sound awesome! I’m so excited to try them and will keep you guys posted when I do.

2.) Boots!

I have had a LOT of luck lately finding boots that fit over my ginormous calves. I got both a black pair and a tan pair, one from DSW that are actually Aerosoles but are adorable (and were just $65!) and the other from Old Navy that were on clearance for $18! SCORE!

3.) Lost

Lost-season1Source.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I am waaay behind on the phenomenon that is Lost. I started watching it from the beginning on Netflix just a few months ago for the first time ever, and am on episode 67 of the 100, exactly 2/3 through! It’s so addicting, and I cannot WAIT to hear/see how it ends!

4.) The Hunger Games

I think I told you guys that I read/was in the process of reading the trilogy, and finally finished the third book when I was in California last week. And, like everyone and their mother, I absolutely LOVED the series. The first book, The Hunger Games, flew by so quickly, that I could not wait to start the second one – Catching Fire. I really loved the second one, but it was a tiny bit slower moving than the first in my opinion. The third book, Mockingjay, took me a little longer to get into, but I think that was largely because I started it around the same time that I discovered Lost on Netflix – and they were both competing for my attention. Once I got to a certain point in the third book though, I could not put it down.

And then, yesterday the trailer came out for the movie, which will be in March 2012 – I cannot WAIT. In case you missed it…

5.) My impending iPhone 4s purchase

white-iphone-4_originalSource.

My plan is to get the iPhone 4s in White – the 16gig. This one costs $199 with a two-year agreement on Verizon, and I also will get a $30 credit since tomorrow is when I’m eligible for my new-every-two, which I’m grandfathered in for since I’ve been with Verizon for so long. I’ve heard they don’t offer the phone credit anymore, but $200 doesn’t seem TOO bad for a phone, ipod, camera, and personal assistant, all in one!

6.) Pay Day

I am also LOVING the fact that today is pay day. Enough said!

What’s something you are loving right now?

I need to pick up that cook book! I am a Lifetime member and. I am currently about 4 lbs over goal. Maybe this will give me the inspiration I need to get back at.

I’m actually thinking of applying at Weight Watchers. I’m a stay at home mom but I think it would be fun to have a little job outside the home.

Hi Sarah! You should definitely do both of those things! The cookbook is AWESOME and it’s only $14.95 in meeting rooms. I also think working for WW is a great way to stay on track and pay forward what you gained from WW – I love it!

I’m loving the fact that you told me where you could find boots that fit over your calves!! I have the exact same problem. I thought for sure after losing weight I was going to be able to wear the cute tall boots. As soon as they put them out this season, off I went trying to find a pair–however, my attempts were unsucessful. To lose weight I started running and I guess my calves “bulked up” on me (which is a good thing, I’ll take muscle over fat any day lol) so I still couldn’t wear boots.

I’m also loving the fact that my running distance is increasing and my time is decreasing, woop woop!! I love running (never thought I’d say that). I’ve only ran 5k’s so far, but I’m thinking about training for a spring half-marathon 🙂

I’m also loving the Hunger Games trilogy, I’m about 1/4 of the way through the last book–I’m gonna be sad when I finish the last book. I love books in a series, the best 🙂

I’m also loving that the movie Breaking Dawn will be out this Friday!! (Ok, I know I’m lame lol). Can’t wait to see it on the big screen.

As the last thing I’m loving is your blog. Keep up the great work!!

Don’t say ONLY 5ks! That is a big accomplishment! I’m training for my third half marathon next March and I’m really excited – I think it’s the perfect distance for me!

I haven’t gotten too much into Twilight – i read the first one but stopped there. The books are soooooo long!

      And thank you!!!

Are there lots of Veg options in the cookbook? Sounds like there must be! Are you leading yet?! I want to check out one of your meetings when you are!

I’m loving me lately. Sounds silly, but I am getting my “stuff” back together and it feels really good.

Hi Gwen! There are a ton of veg options in the book – I was surprised! Obviously all the desserts are veg, and then there’s a whole section of vegetarian entrees, a whole section of grain side ideas, and several appetizers. I also do eat fish, and there’s a whole seafood section as well.

And I am ALMOST done with Leader training – I’ll keep you posted!

I am LOVING that Hunger Games trailer. I am so stoked for the movie!!!!

I’m also loving the plethora of Thanksgiving recipes that are circulating the blogosphere. I’m hosting a small Thanksgiving with my parents and the boyfriends parents, and I’m having a hard time deciding what to make because there are so.many.options!

So many options is better than no options! I’m just sort of along for the ride with my family for Thanksgiving and will help make stuff but don’t have to make too many decisions, which I love! =)

Fat free half and half creeps me out too!

I am currently loving this recipe:

    http://cleancuisineandmore.com/easy-curried-butternut-squash-soup-recipe/

This is the first time I’ve made butternut squash soup, but it was yummy. The bf likes things creamy but i REFUSE to cook with cream. I find the light coconut milk makes a great substitute. I might make it for Thanksgiving to see if my family (who use fat free half and half) likes it too.

Oh yum! That soup sounds delish. It’s funny how just 1 tbsp of that soup makes a whole batch currified! and yes, that’s a word…. 😉

Hey Beth- I joined WW 2 weeks ago (I emailed you right before that to get your sage advice- not sure if you ever saw it) and will definitely look for this cookbook when I weigh in tomorrow. Anything that’s already calculated out makes life easier! I’m still trying to block off some time to really explore everything that Etools has to offer (used the recipe builder for the first time yesterday!)

Today I am lovin’ your #6- it’s my pay day too!

I’m loving (and also fearing) my upcoming Bodypump training this weekend. I’ve heard from other instructors that the experience is “life-changing.” I hope so!!

Oh- and I’m loving the fact that Thanksgiving is next week and I’m (once again) in charge of bringing the “healthy” dishes for the family. 🙂

I love the hunger games! I spent the majority of the month of September reading/obsessing about them. And the trailer looks awesome!

Last year my boyfriend and I watched lost from start to finish on netflix too. I spent about 3 months just staying in and watching, it’s so addictive!!!

I am SO excited for the Hunger Games. Likely abnormaly excited LOL!

I am considering getting the iPhone 4s too. I’ve been with Sprint for over 13 years, and I didn’t want to leave them so I didn’t think I’d be able to get an iPhone, but I’m so happy I can now. Having my iTunes on my phone is huge (otherwise I love my HTC Evo). i need to go check it out.

I am loving skinny jeans/jeggings. I just bought a pair for the first time last week – and I am just thrilled that they fit and look pretty good. This is the first time I am trying something like this fashion wise, mostly because I never felt like I could pull it off before. I am loving that I can rock the skinny jeans look! 😀

I got my iPhone 4S a couple weeks ago and LOVE it. I had a really old iPhone that was dying before this and the speed and capabilities are seriously night and day.

That cookbook sounds interesting, especially that falafel sandwich with lemon yogurt recipe. Please post about that if you make it!

One thing I’m loving right now is the fact that Kenny Chesney announced his tour with Tim McGraw for the summer. So excited!

Also pay day for me = :)…and I am loving tofu right now. In the past 2 days, I have had it in tacos, for breakfast this morning with almonds and pears, in a dessert smoothie, and in a sweet pumpkin hummus…this stuff can do it all!

I really liked this post! it is nice to read about the things you & other people are loving right now…makes you stop and be in the moment & focus on appreciation! I have been reading your blog for a while now…I like it! Right now…I am loving working out and running again. I am also loving anything with PUMPKIN…so yummy! And…my new puppy….so cute!! You made me laugh when you said “ginormous calves”…for two reasons…I love the word ginormous…and because I have that love/hate relationship with my own calves…not because I think they look bad but because I feel like I can’t wear certain boots and (skinny jeans) because of them…oh well…such is life. Have a very happy day!

    Smiles,
    kena

I feel like I totally missed something with this Hunger Games craze – it seems to be ALL OVER now, but where did it come from?! I only heard about the book about a month ago…

Ha, anyway! Another thing I’m “behind” on = being an iPhone user! Luckily I’m in your boast on this one, and am up for a Verizon upgrade now! Finally. 🙂

For the iPhone 4s. Look for the white and black polka dot case. I desperately want it, but don’t have an iPhone to fit inside it. You should enjoy it on my behalf. 🙂

I work with Verizon…. So, that darn case taunts me daily! So tempting!

I love LOST and the Hunger Games! Can’t recommend them enough – you won’t regret it!!! Those of you who get to watch LOST on DVD are lucky because you don’t have to wait through commericals or season hiatus. Right now, I’m loving homemade pumpkin pie filling spread on graham crackers.
