I Warned You

I gave you fair warning that this post was likely coming… time to get back on track post work/vacation travels!

San Francisco was SOOOO fun and I am still working on posts about the Foodbuzz Festival and my trip in general, but I’m still a little delirious from the cross country trip so those will come another day.

I will share one major highlight – I got to meet Tyler Florence!!

He was SO nice and charming in person, and even gave me a copy of his new cookbook.

And signed it!

Don’t worry Tyler. I will!

Anyway, I ended up taking a redeye back on Monday night, which was a lot less painful than I was expecting. I have mentioned it before, but I am an excellent plane sleeper, so I fell asleep no problem for almost the entire flight and liked that I didn’t have to give up a whole day to get back to DC. That said, it was a really strange experience to have dinner in San Francisco Monday evening and then be at my desk Tuesday morning. You can probably guess which one I preferred! =)

After working all day yesterday, I made one stop right after work before going home – Whole Foods! My fridge was so bare – I didn’t even have one fruit or veggie in the house. I had to get on that stat.

I ended up spending $44, and got everything I need for some good meals for the week. First up, the produce.

    • Mixed Greens
    • Kale
    • Cucumber
    • Bananas
    • Tomatoes
    • Honeycrisp Apples
    • Vidalia Onion
    • Scallions
    • Holiday Grapes

The most delicious grapes ever.

Everything else:

    • SO Delicious Coffee Creamer
    • Whole Wheat Pasta
    • Low-Fat Cottage Cheese
    • New-to-Me Greek Yogurt
    • Skim Milk
    • Nasoya Lite Tofu (free with coupon)
    • Babybel Light
    • Laughing Cow Light Garlic Herb
    • Corn Tortillas
    • Swiss Cheese

Not too shabby for $44! Here’s what I came up with for a meal plan:

Breakfast Lunch Snack Dinner
Tuesday Egg + Cheese on Ezekiel Toast Subway Veggie Delite w/Baked Chips Starbucks Americano w/skim milk Cheese Quesadilla w/scallions + salad
Wednesday Pumpkin Steel Cut Oatmeal w/Cottage Cheese Big salad w/sardines, wasa crackers, + babybel cheese, grapes Banana + Greek Yogurt Cheesy Butternut Squash Bake
Thursday English Muffin w/sunbutter + banana Leftover Cheesy Butternut Squash Bake w/salad Cottage cheese w/frozen berries Loaded Baked Potato
Friday Pumpkin Oatmeal w/Cottage Cheese Leftover Cheesy Butternut Squash Bake w/salad Greek Yogurt w/banana Out with friends

Feels good to be back with a plan! Now I just need to get back on Eastern Time and convince myself not to move to San Francisco. We’ll see how that goes.

If you could meet one celebrity chef, who would it be?

Ooooh Tyler, SWOON! I’d love to meet Bobby Flay, too 😉

So jealous of all the San Fran fun, glad it was awesome, lady!

I would love to meet Alton Brown. He is smart, funny and taught me everything I need to know about cooking a chicken!

We are loving those Holiday Grapes in our house now! My 1 yr old loves grapes, and getting those always seems like such a steel because they are HUGE! I can cut up 5 or 6 for her and she is good!

Welcome back to the east coast. I have heard that San Francisco has a sort of siren song. This is partially why I have not gone yet!

I’m insanely jealous. If I could meet any chef, it would be Paula Deen. I hear she has a potty mouth when she’s not on camera and I love that.

I’m the WORST plane sleeper. I can’t do it. Ever!

I want Paula Deen to be my mother-in-law. The holidays would SO rock…

That’s so cool that you got to meet Tyler Florence! When I was in the San Francisco area last May, we went to Muir Woods and purposely ate lunch at the cafe there because Tyler Florence said they had the best grilled cheese he ever had on the show “Best Thing I Ever Ate”. And it WAS pretty amazing!

CURTIS STONE….and definitely not for his cooking techniques! Ugh-he’s so yummy! I do love that he was/is so involved with Biggest Loser and an advocate for healthy eating….and did I mention-yummy! 🙂 ooh that accent!

Hi Laura- Congrats on 40 lbs!!! That’s amazing. 🙂 And that is a recipe experiment happening at my house tonight. Assuming it turns out well I’ll be sharing it soon!

Holiday Grapes ARE the best grapes ever!! I picked some up at WF last weekend but a lot of them were mushy for some reason so I put them back. Maybe this week’s batch will be better.

I saw a picture of Tyler Florence in someone else’s blog and it looked to be you in the corner picture, so I wondered. So cool! He seems like a good guy on his shows.

I have a slight crush on Bobby Flay.

Based on sexiness alone, I’d go with Tyler, Curtis and Rocco. Mmmm…. Rocco…
But, in general, I would love to meet Hubert Keller, Anthony Bourdain, and Bethenny Frankel (I just love her, sorry for anyone that doesn’t!)

I can’t believe you got out of Whole Foods spending less than $50. That would be a record for me!

Love Tyler Florence! Made his spaghetti carbonara once and it was so awesome! I’d love to meet Anthony Bourdain or Giada.

I’ve met Rachael Ray before – many many years ago. That was fun.

My favorite to meet would be Ina Garten – I adore her. I would really like her to just invite me to the Hamptons for a weekend.

Hi Beth. That is SOOOO fun! Love that you met Tyler. (he and I are on a first name basis! 🙂 ) I’m sure I’d be pretty star struck if I met Curtis Stone.

Yay! So glad you got to meet Tyler (even though I didn’t know who he was until Foodbuzz).

I’d definitely want to meet Jamie Oliver. He’s cute, I like his lisp, and he makes great food. 🙂

So glad we were roomies! Hope to see you in DC in the next few months, or if you’re in the NYC area sometime, let me know.

Hmm, we’re friends with one who has introduced us to a few through a Food Network Challenge. So I suppose if I had to meet one or two others it would be Rocco DiSpirito (just to lick his face and get arrested) and maybe Ina Garten so we could befriend her and she would cook us fabulous meals at her place in the Hamptons! HA!

    Hi beth!
I would totally suggest you move to San Fran – California is amazing!! As far as celebrity chef’s go, I would probably have to say Emeril Lagasse just because he is an old favorite of mine and his shows and recipes were the first for me. There are so many good ones though, I also love Tyler Florence, Bobby Flay, Racheal Ray And Buddy Valastro. I love cake boss! Haha

I’d love to meet Curtis Stone *swoon*. And Alton Brown (I love how he explains the “why’s” of everything you do in the kitchen).

Several other bloggers I follow were at Foodbuzz. I think you may even be in one of their pictures… check out The Edible Perspective’s post (http://edibleperspective.com/2011/11/faces-food-2/)… there’s a picture of Tyler Florence talking to someone and it looks suspiciously like you 🙂

I noticed on your meal plan, no meat. Have you always eaten very little or just when you began losing weight?
