Six Weekend Takeways

1.) Sometimes dressing up like you’re in the 80’s can be SO fun, even if it is 2012.

photo 1 (19)

  • Neon purple spandex
  • Neon yellow legwarmers
  • Blue pumps
  • Hot pink tanktop
  • Oversized white sweatshirt
  • Fingerless hot pink fishnet gloves

And don’t worry, I went to a show called Legwarmers, which is an 80s cover band, so I didn’t stand out one bit. Can’t say the same for wearing the neon purple spandex around town yesterday though…

2.) Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism is a killer workout. I finally did it yesterday for the first time and seriously almost stopped after the 5th circuit because I was dying. I ended up making it through all 7 circuits barely, but MAN it’s no joke. It’s mostly cardio circuits with a few bodyweight strength training moves built in, but it requires no equipment except for a mat and yourself! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for an intense indoor cardio workout.

3.) Smirnoff Whipped Cream Vodka mixed with club soda tastes JUST LIKE cream soda.

4.) If you go to WeightWatchers.com and look for meetings in DC, Beth K. shows up as a leader! So weird to see my name on the site even though I’ve been leading for a couple months now. I actually start my second meeting tonight – so I’ll be leading two meetings per week going forward. One Monday night and one Tuesday morning, then done for the week!

5.) The thrill from saving money at the grocery store will never get old for me. My favorite thing to do is to not scan my store-discount code thing until after everything is rung up so I can see just how much I saved. It’s especially thrilling when it goes from this:

photo 2 (12)

$81.12

to this:

photo 3 (17)

$46.01

6.) Creating a menu plan over the weekend makes me feel better about the week ahead, no matter how much whipped cream vodka I drank (See Takeaway #3).

Breakfast Lunch Snack Dinner
Monday Savory Oats w/spinach, eggwhites, garlic + cheese Mexican Salad w/black beans, salsa, cheese, plus fruit salad Popcorn + grapefruit Egg scramble with cheese + veggies, toast
Tuesday Greek yogurt, toasted blueberry bagel thin w/PB
Whole Wheat Waffles toasted w/pb + banana
Mexican Salad w/black beans, salsa, cheese, plus grapefruit Cottage Cheese + fruit salad Baked chicken w/homemade tzatziki and brown rice
Wednesday Savory Oats w/spinach, eggwhites, garlic + cottage cheese Salad w/chicken and tzatziki, fruit salad greek yogurt + fruit salad Black Bean + Brown Rice burrito
Thursday Whole Wheat Waffles toasted w/pb + banana Black Bean Burrito w/salad, strawberries Grapefruit + greek yogurt Baked tofu w/roasted sweet potatoes
Friday Oats w/pb + banana Leftover tofu + sweet potatoes over greens Cottage Cheese w/grapes TBD – possibly Chop’t

What’s one thing you took away from the weekend, besides wishing it was longer?

This post is so upbeat and perfect for a Monday morning! YAY! This weekend….I turned 30! It was a weekend full of family, friends, and tons of fun! It reminded me of what’s important! Lots of love! Also, I realized that I have been slacking on exercising so, I got up this morning and ran 3 miles! I feel great! Have a fantastic week!

Whipped cream vodka is the bees knees. I went through a bottle of that stuff SO much faster than the other alcohols I’ve got locked up in the pantry.

For our last RPM launch at the gym, we did an 80′s theme and it was a complete blast! Spinning in leg warmers wasn’t the best idea 1/2 way into it but it sure did look hilarious! :) Hope you had a wonderful weekend girl.

My weekend takeaway? I can’t eat as much popcorn as I used to be able to! Popcorn is one of my favorite foods, one that I can usually eat and eat and eat. I used to be able to house a medium movie theater popcorn and then some (definitely not something I did regularly, obviously!), but last night I discovered that even half of a medium was too much for me. Good news for my figure, I guess!
Also, your 80′s outfit reminds me of this AWESOME dress I saw at the Salvation Army, that was gold lamé on the bottom and black velvet on top. If it wasn’t a size 4 I would have snatched it right up for an 80′s or early 90′s themed party!

My takeaway, I just can’t drink like I used to. Not that I went off the deep end or anything, but I just do not sleep well after a night (or 2) of drinks. Had a great girls weekend, so who cares.

    I love 80′s cover bands!

That’s a pretty sweet savings score! I took away that at self-serve fro-yo places, no matter how tempting and delicious all the flavours sound, I like tart original the best.

Love seeing the grocery bill get reduced. I spent $120 this week (2 weeks worth) and even thoguh I was groaning about it my fridge and cupboards have never been so full of food. Fresh produce, lean meats, and a menu plan up on the fridge! Being this prepared is a great feeling!

Oh an dancing around the living room to the Footloose sountrack with a glass of wine didn’t hurt either.

I love the Legwarmers. I’ve seen them perform a bunch of times! If you like them you’ll probably love the DC area 90s cover band, White Ford Bronco. A friend/coworker is in the band :)

Oh man, I am dying to try that vodka!! I should have picked up a bottle this weekend, but was romanced by a bottle of Skinnygirl White Cranberry Cosmo instead. So good to know that the vodka + club soda tastes like cream soda!!
And you’re right about Jillian’s workout- it is NO JOKE! Especially the 2nd circuit with the burpees that go right into sumo squat jumps? I’m always so happy when that one is over!

I did Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism last weekend, and I was huffing and puffing by the end. It’s intense to say the least! I’m tired just thinking about it. Ha!

OMG I LOVE scanning the card after everything has been run up too. The cashiers always seem annoyed when I ask to wait until the end. HAHA
My takeaway from the weekend is that there is nothing better than a relaxing weekend at home with my husband. I didn’t have to work this weekend and we didn’t go away (that never happens when i’m off) so we spent the whole weekend together running errands, playing games, reading, napping and watching T.V. Just us and the doggies. It was AMAZING!!! I want to stop working on weekends just so i can have that every weekend.

I can’t wait to check out that workout. We need a few others in rotation.

I took away from the weekend if your childhood house is up for sale, you should totally drop by and get a tour.
