Before I get into the facts, my heart is heavy today because my nephew Harper is the hospital. He was having some breathing problems yesterday, so my sister and her husband took him to the ER and they admitted him and kept him overnight for observation. I really do believe in the power of positive thinking and prayer in numbers, so please send positive thoughts and prayers for Harper, my sister Wendy, and brother-in-law Justin. They’ve already been through so much and my heart aches for them.
So I have a bunch of really random facts to share with you guys. Rather than writing a cohesive post, you’re getting a list for today! Here goes.
.) I am loving my post dropping out of the marathon workout schedule. It feels so great to be cross training and doing what I feel like rather than what I “have” to. It’s also great to have workouts that are under an hour! You can see what I’ve been up to exercise-wise here.
Last night’s workout. 40 mins running (~4.0 miles) plus 10 mins walking.
.) You can vote for Beth’s Journey as the top inspiring weight loss blog for Shape Magazine for two more weeks! The contest ends October 28th, so please click over to vote if you haven’t! You don’t have to register or provide an email address to vote. There is literally no way I will win, but it still feels like a big honor to be listed as one of the top 20!
.) I tried a Salted Caramel Mocha yesterday from Starbucks for the first time and it was seriously the best drink I’ve ever had. The $5.14 price tag (slash the 290 calories for a grande with skim milk and no whip) will make it a once-in-a-very-long-while treat, but it was so delicious!
.) I worked out with a personal trainer on Tuesday and it was SO HARD. We did two different three move circuits, each three times, and I was really, really sore on Wednesday. I have recovered since then, but I wish I could afford to do personal training more! This session I got free when I joined.
.) I got caught in a torrential downpour yesterday after my Weight Watchers meeting and on my way to the gym. My shoes were literally FULL of water when I finally got into the gym and I had to empty them into the sink! Yuck!
.) I am SO glad I decided to do the regional membership for Washington Sports Club. Originally I was going to join just one of the locations because it was cheaper to do that, but then I found a deal for GWU alumni for the regional membership, so I went with it. I’ve been to three different ones a few times each and am so happy!
.) I LOVED spinning. It was such a great, fast paced workout and the music made it go by so quickly. I have only taken the one class but want to go back for another one soon, as well as try other classes at the gym!
.) I am running the Boo! Run for Life 10k on Sunday, and would LOVE love love to finish in under an hour. That was my goal at my last 10k, and I finished in 1 hour 1 second, no joke.
.) I went to Rustico with Alexa for dinner this week, and it was AMAZING. We shared three things – carrot hummus (which was so light, fluffy, and heavenly), a butternut squash salad, and a chickpea crust white pizza. I hiiiiiiiighly recommend the restaurant if you’ve never been!
.) I am now working on a task force for recruiting employees for Weight Watchers. If you’re within 10 lbs of your goal and/or a Lifetime member, email me if you want to know more!! bethsjourneyblog at gmail dot com. It’s a great gig to keep you on track and I’d love to talk to anyone who is interested in the area!
.) I am heavily leaning towards doing the reader get together on Tuesday the 25th or Wednesday the 26th of October. I’m thinking a low key dinner/frozen yogurt get together at Sweet Green in Dupont from 6-8pm. I’ll confirm once its closer to the date but let me know if either of those days work for you!!
.) I go to BLS (leadership training) for Weight Watchers in Chicago next Thursday!! The training is three days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) and I am SOOOOOOO excited! I promise to dish all (or as much as I can!) once I’m back.
