Ending the Week on a High Note

I wanted to end the week on a good note, so let me share with you two exciting things.

1.) The bruising on my back has made incredible progress. Check it.

Bruising Progress

Isn’t that a crazy difference in just 5 days (from PO Day 6 to PO Day 11)? It’s practically gone! I’ve been using arnica gel on it a few times a day, as well as been taking Arnica supplements since 1 week before surgery, which is a homeopathic drug that helps with bruising and muscle soreness. Seems like it’s working!

2.) Yesterday, I bought my first ever bikini!

Well, let’s be real. I bought three. When I say first ever, I mean it. I have always been too chubby and more so too self conscious to ever even consider wearing a two piece suit. I remember going through a tankini phase but I would always make sure to buy the ones that overlapped with the bottoms, and even then, it caused that same intense fear of it coming up when I jumped in the pool or moved the wrong way. Not that there’s anything wrong with a one piece, and I’m sure I’ll continue to wear some, but as you know I was feeling a little blue, so I decided to do something to make myself feel better. I headed to Target just to try a few on and see if the incision would be covered slash if I would feel comfortable enough to wear it, and I ended up almost freaking out in the dressing room because not only did they fit and cover the incision, but they actually looked ok!

Bottom from Bikini 2:

The scar is TOTALLY covered. (That redness just above the bikini on the left side is irritation from the steri strips that were covering the incision – not the incision itself – so that will go away.

And yes, I still have a lot of stretch marks, and yes, my body is definitely not perfect. But you know what? I am TOTALLY going to rock these bikinis anyway!

Happy Friday!

You look amazing…. and you did before the surgery too. But now you are just grinning from ear to ear and you can really tell how comfortable you are feeling in your own body. CONGRATS.

Beth you are truly an inspiration. I am so proud of you and each day when I struggle with my own journey I can look to your blog for inspiration. The bikinis look amazing! And dont think of those as strech marks…think of them as claw marks from the fierceness that was fighting to get out 🙂 HUGS

SO EXCITING! Congratulations! I am loving that you are brave enough to share this journey with us. You are giving many hope! I mean it! I am going to work it so I can follow in your footsteps! I got depressed after visiting ONE plastic surgeon… I realize now that I didn’t give it enough research. I actually got so depressed I gained weight (and consciously didn’t care) I figured I would never look good anyway. Well I have a NEW perspective and if you look THIS amazing only 11 days post op I am IN! I can make this work! Thanks again! You are an amazing person… even though we never met LOL!

Hi Mindy – thank you so much for your comment! It makes me grin ear to ear hearing that I am helping you realize how far you can go. I honestly, never in a million years, would have guessed I would be sporting a bikini – much less putting pics of myself in it on the internet! lol!

Hi Dawn! Thank you! And yes – if you go to the Plastic Surgery Tab (on the left side of the screen) all the surgery posts are compiled there. The post titled “The Procedures, The Concerns, and The Photos” has pre-surgery and progress pics in it.

Thanks for the inspiration! I’ve always said to people, don’t be ashamed of your scars they tell the story of your life and proved that you survived. Don’t let anybody put you down for them. Wear them like a badge of honor or courage.

I’m more in the “hope no one notices” camp haha. But I agree, they do represent where I came from.

Just for the few minutes while I tried things on. I had it on when I went in there and put it back on right after. 🙂

Hi Beth, I’ve been reading your blog for a few years… I don’t usually comment because I usually use a reader on my phone, which makes it a pain. But after reading your recent surgery posts, I felt compelled to get on a real computer. 🙂 You are so ballsy to share all of these pictures of the process– and you seriously look amazing!! Your pre-surgery pictures look great too (I said to myself, wait, that’s what she’s saying is awful?) but HOLY CRAP your waist now is incredible! After reading your blog for awhile I kind of feel like I know you (hope that’s not creepy), so I’m so excited for you that this is all going so well. And you should definitely rock those bikinis without a second thought.

I forget how I initially found your blog– I think something WW-related (I was a member on and off for a few years). I eventually stopped WW but have continued the eating habits I learned there, and I really appreciate the positive but realistic way you talk about weight, food, and your personal process.

Thank you for sharing so much with the world!
