I was trying to figure out what to call this post, so I tried on “Cheese” for size as the title. Whenever someone says “cheese,” I can’t help but say “Cheee-eeeese” and laugh to myself about that scene in Old School where the Dean comes in to kick Mitch out of his house…
Mitch: Wow. Cheese. Is that you?
Dean Pritchard: Hello, Mitch. Bernard. I see you guys haven’t changed much.
Beanie: Who’s this guy?
Mitch: Beanie, you remember Cheese, Rodney’s kid brother?
Dean Pritchard: Actually, my name’s not Cheese anymore. It’s Gordon Pritchard.
Beanie: Oh yeah. Cheeeeeese. Yeah, didn’t we lock you in a dumpster one time?
Dean Pritchard: Yea, I got out.
Beanie: Cool man. Good. Glad you did.
Hahaha. Random, I know. I am slightly obsessed with that movie. Anyways, that’s where this title came from.
The days have been flying by lately because of the conference and today was the last day (for me)! There’s still some things going on tomorrow at the hotel, but my job is done. After I went back to the conference hotel today, we had a few sessions that I sat it on with high profile speakers. I can’t reveal too much about the content of their speeches, but it was really interesting! A lot of time these things just go over my head, but today I actually focused because the speakers intrigued me and it was really cool to sit in on. By the time the sessions were wrapping up and it was 6pm, my stomach was grumbling.
Luckily, we had a reception coming up with food and drinks right afterwards. I had a white wine spritzer (just white wine with ice and seltzer) to sip on.
There was a also a buffet with crudites and dip on one side:

The cheese had clearly been picked over by the time I got around to taking a picture. There were also some passed hors d’ouvres but I didn’t want to scare the servers and snap their pictures. 🙂 I made a little plate for myself:
With a bunch of veggies and some bread with two kinds of cheese. I’m not sure of the exact types of cheese, but one was a hard cheese similar to Parmesan, and the other was a soft cheese that was a little sweet and tasted like honey and walnuts. I went back for a few more pieces of cheese, and also had two mini crab cake balls that were passed hors d’oeuvres.
After the reception wrapped up, I headed to Whole Foods in search of some protein powder, since it is on the way to the metro. I’ve wanted to buy some to put into my smoothies and possibly into oatmeal to pack a little bit of a punch. I found this protein powder:
It was $9.99 full price at Whole Foods and had good looking stats. A scoop has just 80 calories and 16 grams of protein! I’ve always shied away from powders and things of that nature, but I’ve heard adding just 1/2 or 1 scoop can really keep you full longer and I eat a lot of things I can easily add it to. I figured it was worth a shot. I’m looking forward to experimenting with it, and I actually just used some to make a new-to-me breakfast for tomorrow, so stay tuned. 🙂
After I got home, I was a little hungry, so my boyfriend made me a small quesdilla with the last of the corn tortillas.
This is two corn tortillas with cheddar and mozzarella melted between, because clearly, I needed more cheese. I ate it with some of the leftover kiwi salsa and some of the pico de gallo… mmm.
A new Nurse Jackie is coming on soon and I am loving this season! I am exhausted so will probably crash immediately after. Goodnight!
